The St. Louis Cardinals have announced the demotion of C Christian Bethancourt (2.014 service time) to the Minors.
The move comes after the Cardinals acquired backup catcher Miguel Montero in a trade from the Oakland Athletics. St. Louis is optimistic that Bethancourt will still have a role with the club in the coming years, but made the move to get more ABs on the Major League Roster in the quest to be a 2017 Division Winner.
