D'Shawn Knowles CF LAA - $0.2 prospect

Cubs get:
Jon Lester SP CHC - $8/$25TO/UFA

With Sale out for the season, just looking to beef up my rotation. Cost me a couple good prospects to make it happen, but it’ll be worth it if Lester can help my team to another division crown. Thanks to the Cards for the deal.

Cardinals agree to the trade. We see this move as a way to bolster our farm. Former collegiate homerun derby champions always have a home with the redbirds.

Moving Lester allows us flexibility for evaluating our young pitchers. Best of luck to the Cubs!
