Mariners have a surplus of pitching and were looking for a chance to build up the farm a bit and we were able to do just that. The former top 10 pick and Vallimont being the prized pieces I was after. Holton Hopes to be a potential plus and play player down the road.

The New York Mets accept this trade.

When Weaver was made available earlier this week I quickly contacted the Mariners GM to see if we can find a deal. With Bumgarner and Kelly from the Dbacks rotation already penciled into my starting pitching for 2020 it just makes too much sense to add another one of Arizona´s starters. Weaver comes with quite some injury scare after being shut down with elbow problems in mid-season last year but he also has ace upside so it´s worth taking the gamble.

In return the Mariners get a top 100 prospect in Langeliers and two promising young pitchers who both had very solid numbers in 2019.

I would like to thank the Mariners front office for the quick and easy deal and wish Tyler, Shea and Chris all the best in their new organization.
