The last 24hrs has been spent working the phones in search of some relief help. Ultimately we are able to acquire 2 players that we really like in this deal.
Miami receives RP Jose Leclerc 4.5/ARB2/ARB3 RP Darwinzon Hernandez 0.5/0.75/1.0/ARB1
Cincinnati Receives 3B Jeimer Candeleiro 1/ARB1 3B Zach Green 1.5/UFA 3B Mark Vientos 0.25 prospect 1B Zach Shannon 0.2 prospect
We're very excited to add LeClerc into the fold, an electric arm with elite K/9 has driven the profile up until this point. With the Rangers improved rotation, we expect to see a sharp uptick in save opportunities for our newest addition. Darwinzon Hernandez has the potential to be the Red Sox closer of the future himself. The stuff played at the major league level, although he was punished by a very high babip. We expect the numbers to look a lot better in 2020 as things regress to the mean.
We've had to give up some depth at 3B in order to make this deal. We believe that Candeleiro can still get back on track, he showed promise late in 2019. Vientos was the other key piece in this deal. He is a few years away and without current 3B and succession plan at the position he was expendable.
Thanks Shawn for the negotiations and best of luck in 2020.
Go Marlins!

The Reds agree to this deal. We hated to see Hernandez and his team friendly contract move but we like Candelario as a rebound to help shore up our MLB hitting and our scouting department believe that Vientos will be contributing soon. We have reshaped our roster and cap situation and this move still keeps us relevant in 2020 and continues to help our future flexibility.
Good luck to Marlins!
