After a quick inquiry on pitching, Dodgers and Diamondbacks strike another deal...
Dodgers send:
SP Nick Nelson (.2) SS Reginald Preciado (.2) SS Rafael Morel (.2)
Diamondbacks send:
James Kaprielian (.2)
Although injuries held up Kaprielian's ascent through the minors, we felt his progress last year at AA and an appearance at AAA is what the Yankees saw when they drafted him 16th overall back in 2015. Although we think Nelson will make an appearance for the Yankees this year, we liked Kaprielian's upside of pitching in the Oakland. The impact of losing Preciado and Morel may not be felt for awhile, but since they are early on the trajectory, felt the upside of Kaprielian was worth it in the short term.
Thanks to D-Backs GM for another smooth transaction, and best of luck to Nelson and the shortstops.

The D-Backs accept.
For us this was a matter of using an SP we are high on, but worried somewhat because of his injury history, to build our minors back up a little after dealing so many away for MLB talent this off season.
We think Nick Nelson has shown very well in the Yankees system and should continue to progress. Both Preciado and Morel are very solid prospects in their respective organizations. They just started their ascent last season, but from what we can see, we are very happy to bring them on board.
Thanks to the Dodgers for making this a quick and easy deal...and good luck this season!
