1. Heliot Ramos, OF, SFG Ramos was the organization's number 1 pick two years ago and has proven to be all we could hope for at this point. He has been very good with the bat and we just are hoping the Giants will turn to their younger players sooner rather than later.
2. Alek Thomas, OF, ARZ Thomas was the team's 2nd round pick in 2018 and at this point appears to be a steal. He is the son of the Chicago White Sox strength and conditioning coach. He was just invited to his first MLB futures game.
3. Sean Hjelle, SP, SFG Hjelle was the organization's first pick a year ago. He is a 6'8 lefty who the Giants are really limiting in the minors. He remains the Giants number 6 prospect but is considered to be a future ace with very little risk.
4. D.L. Hall, SP, BAL Recently acquired by the Pirates via trade Hall also just made his first MLB futures game appearance. He is a fireballer who needs to learn a little command. If he gets it he could be a front end of the rotation pitcher.
5. Alex Faedo, SP, DET If it weren't for Casey Mize, Faedo would be the talk of the Tigers future rotation. He has been stellar at every level since being picked 6th overall in the draft of 2017. He was also acquired via trade this year by the Pirates organization.
6. Daz Cameron, CF, DET Son of former MLB star Mike Cameron, Daz may be the most polarizing prospect--he bounces back and forth between potential star and strikes out too much. I'm hoping he will get it figured out and quick. Does not lack for speed.
7. Dermis Garcia, 1B, NYY Once the number one international prospect Dermis Garcia fell into oblivion. Now he is back and rapidly climbing the prospect rankings. He has all kinds of power and could play multiple positions for the Yankees.
8. Aaron Ashby, SP, MIL The Pirates have a thing for players who had fathers in the MLB. Andy Ashby's kid is no exception. He was a 4th round pick up for the Pirates in last year's draft and has sky-rocketed up the prospect rankings with 140K's in 100 Innings pitched. He didn't profile as a big K guy but yet here he is.
9. Jairo Pomares, CF, SFG The Pirates organization seems to really trust the Giants scouting department. Pomares is another future everyday outfielder for the Giants. He has some speed and has shown an ability to hit to all fields.
10. Gabriel Arias, SS, SDP The Pirates hope that he will be heading somewhere else as there seems to be this Machado guy in front of him. There is no doubt the kid is talented though.
Knocking on the Door: Yasel Antuna, SS, WAS; Jorge Alcala, SP, MIN; Austin Allen, C, SDP; Jose Israel Garcia, SS, CIN
Oh and coming soon the Pirates organization.....the number 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft.
