After a very quick negotiation the Marlins and D-Backs have agreed to the following deal...
Marlins get: Renato Nunez, 3B, Orioles. 2019/1M 2020/1M 2021/ARB1 Jeremy De La Rosa, CF, Nationals. 2019/0.2M Prospect
D-Backs get: Chris Taylor, 2B/SS/LF/CF, Dodgers. 2019/3.96M 2020/ARB2
For us this deal was a no brainer. We have 3 3B for next season which made Nunez expendable. We hated to give up De La Rosa as we think he is a very solid young prospect, but still in the "lottery ticket" stage of his career.
Getting Taylor was ideal for us. If we can't land a top SS (unlikely) in UFA then Taylor hits well enough to fill that spot for a couple years until our young guys are ready. He is a solid, not great, but solid hitter who is heads and shoulders above anything our team has had at SS so far. If we do come up with a better option he is a great depth piece qualifying at 4 positions and his bat will get plenty of work.
Thanks to Dave and the Marlins for the quick and easy deal.

We accept this deal. After shopping Taylor over the last week or so Donnie came knocking. We were able to turn him into an everyday 3B with power in Nunez as well as a young OF prospect that we missed out on in the midseason IFA. We expect to see De La Rosa make some noise in the minors over the next few seasons and if nothing else he can be another quality trade asset for our future.
Thanks Donnie, best of luck.
