The Kansas City Royals and the Washington Nationals will meet up on the MLB(world series rings for sale) diamond Friday to start off their series.
The Royals(Kansas City Royals championship rings) are coming off a set versus the Indians this week. KC dropped the first two games of that series 9-5 and 4-0. In the Thursday finale, Kansas City fell 8-4.
For Friday’s matchup, the Royals are bringing out Brad Keller in the start. Across his 105.0 innings and 4-9 record this year, Keller has a 4.63 ERA with 75 Ks and 50 BBs.
Over on the Nationals side, they’re fresh off a series against the Marlins. Washington took a win 3-2 Tuesday and another 3-1 on Wednesday, then in the Thursday game, the Nats won 5-2.
The Nationals will be going with Austin Voth in the start on Friday. In his 10.1 innings without a decision this year, Voth has a 4.35 ERA with 10 Ks and two walks. The Royals are 1-5 in their last six Friday games and 1-5 in Keller’s last six road starts. KC is 1-6 in Keller’s last seven starts and 1-10 in his last 11 on grass.
Meanwhile, the Nationals are 5-0 in their last five in game one of a series and 4-1 in their last five versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. The under is 5-0-1 in Washington’s last six in game one of a series as well.
Keller has been choppy lately. Across his last three starts, he’s got 12.0 innings with 13 earned runs on a total of 20 hits. That said, he still registered a win his last time up in Toronto despite six earned.
As for Voth, he’s only got two outings and a very small sample size this year but has been pretty decent outside of a few mistakes here and there.
I’m not really feeling this matchup at all, but I don’t trust Keller right now so I’m going Nationals(championship rings).
