The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago White Sox will meet up on the MLB(world series rings) diamond to kick off their series on Tuesday.
The Tigers(cheap Detroit Tigers championship rings) are coming off a weekend set versus the Nationals. Detroit won on Saturday but lost the other two games of that series, 3-1 on Friday and 2-1 on Sunday in the finale.
For Tuesday’s game, the Tigers are sending Matthew Boyd out to the mound. Over 101.2 innings and a 5-6 record this year, Boyd has a 3.72 ERA with 129 Ks and 20 BBs.
Over on the White Sox’ side, they played the Twins this weekend. Chicago dropped Saturday's game 10-3 but got the other two, 6-4 on Friday and 4-3 in the Sunday game.
The Sox(cheap Chicago White Sox championship rings) will be sending out Reynaldo Lopez in the start on Tuesday. Across his 92.2 innings and 4-7 record so far, Lopez has a 6.12 ERA with 83 Ks and 38 BBs.The Tigers are 1-6 in their last seven in game one of a series and 4-10 in Boyd’s last 14 Tuesday starts. Detroit is 8-21 in Boyd’s last 29 road starts and 0-5 in his last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Sox are 4-0 in their last four after an off day and 4-1 in their last five in game one of a series. Chicago(custom championship rings) is 15-36 in their last 51 Tuesday games and 1-4 in the last five following a win.
Boyd has been pretty bumpy over his last three games. Over that stretch he’s given up 13 earned in 17.0 innings on a total of 18 hits. Boyd is also 0-2 in that span.
As for Lopez, he’s been okay over his last couple with six earned in 11.1 innings on 15 hits. I’m not super-thrilled about either pitcher (or team for that matter) here, but I’m leaning toward the at-home Sox.
