The Mets and Athletics general managers have agreed on a trade.
Mets receive
Drew Pomeranz, SP, BOS - 2018: 6.68/2019: 6.68/2020: 6.68/2021: 6.68/2022: TO 10.01/2023: UFA
Orioles receive
Chris Stratton, SP, SFG - 2018: 2.5/2019: 2.5/2020:2.5/2021: 2.5/2022: TO 3.75/2023: UFA
Zack Short, SS, CUBS - Prospect
Dean Kremer, SP, BAL - Prospect
I was looking to add some pitching depth to the rotation for the stretch run. Due to this year´s injuries Pomeranz is a high risk - high reward player who might help my team this year and beyond...or not. Stratton was blocking a spot in my rotation after being demoted to the Minors in real life but he is good enough to have a solid career going forward. Short and Kremer performed well in the Minors so far but had to be added to make this a fair deal for both sides.
I would like to thank the A´s owner for the quick and positive negotiations and wish Chris, Zack and Dean all the best in the beautiful Bay Area.
Welcome to New York, Drew and let´s go Mets!

I accept. I acquired Pomeranz a few months ago in hopes he could really contribute but he hasn't done a whole lot so I figured it was time to move on. I was excited to get a guy I like in Stratton, hopefully he can make it back to the big leagues in real life. Always happy to get guys like Short and Kremer to add to my prospect depth. Thanks to the Mets for the efficient negotiations.
