After a good session of negotiations the A's and D-Backs have reached agreement on the following deal...
A's get:
Drew Pomeranz, SP, Red Sox. 2018/6.68M 2019/6.68M 2020/6.68M 2021/6.68M 2022/TO 10.1M
D-Backs get:
Zack Littell, SP, Twins. 2018/.7M - prospect Matt Thaiss, 1B, Angels. 2018/.2M - prospect Trevor Rogers, SP, Marlins. 2018/.3M - prospect
It's always tough to give up on a quality Sp like Drew Pomeranz. We had to look at where he will be in 2 to 3 years from now when our young guys are starting to come of age and impact the big club. We believe getting some quality prospects now would be better than waiting it out to see how well he is performing.
We believe we received some potentially impactful prospects in this deal. Littell is a quality SP who is at AA now and should be AAA later this year. He could easily end up a #3 or 4 slot rotation SP. Thaiss is a top 10 1B prospect who will most likely be the Angels 1B in 2019. Trevor Rogers has been called possibly the best SP in the 2017 draft, at worst the best LHP in that draft. He has front of the rotation potential.
We would like to wish Drew well, and welcome Zack, Matt & Trevor to their new home.
Than you to the A's for interesting and fun negotiations that lead to this deal.

I accept, I needed a solid 6th SP and Pomeranz is cheap so it works for both sides. Thanks to Arizona this trade was easygoing and both sides like their return.
