After some negotiating the D-Backs & Rangers have agreed to the following deal...
Rangers get:
Sean Doolittle, RP, Nationals. 2018/4.35M 2019/TO 6M 2020/TO 6.5M Lucas Sims, SP, Braves. 2018/.5M 2019/1M 2020/2M 2021/ARB1 David Thompson, 3B, Mets. 2018/.5M - prospect Franchy Cordero, CF, Padres. 2018/1M - in minors, TC2 on being promoted
Diamondbacks get:
George Valera, CF, Indians. 2018/.2M - prospect Jordan Guerrero, SP, White Sox. 2018/.2M - prospect Cionel Perez, SP, Astros. 2018/.2M - prospect Francisco Morales, SP, Phillies. 2018/.2M - prospect David Wright, 3B, Mets. 2018/1.5M 2019/1.5M
It always hurts to give a good RP like Doolittle, but he was expendable as he did not fit our rebuild plan. Sims, Thompson and Cordero were all nice prospects to have but we were able to let go to be able to upgrade our pitching prospects, which we feel we did in Guerrero, Perez and Morales. Adding Valera was a bonus for us. He has yet to play a game in the minors and is already the #10 prospect in the Indians deep minor league system. As for Wright...it's a hope and a prayer that he can get semi healthy again, but took a shot considering 3B depth in this league. We would have made this same deal with or without him.
It was a pleasure negotiating with the new owner for Texas. The negotiations were easy and fun. Hopefully we will do it again soon!

After an overview of my team I think I have enough of a window to compete this year. Doolittle is the main piece in a bullpen that had just Jim Johnson. I trade some prospects that were a couple years away for prospects who are closer to Major League ready, and I like the potential of Cordero. Sims is a young cheap arm whos shown a ton of potential in the minors, just gotta put it together at in the Big Leagues
