The Brewers continue to plan for the future and were able to secure the services of 5 very good, high-upside pieces, with the crown-jewel being Anderson Espinoza. He underwent TJS recently so he's going to be out of service for some time but before then showed that he has the potential to be an ace. The other four players were all in the Brewers organization previously so this is a bit of a homecoming of sorts. You may not have heard of Lucchesi but you will; he's got great stuff. Funkhouser has really progressed over the last year and has one hell of a last name. Perez looks to have the tools to be a perennial all-star. Wade may be the least heralded of the bunch but was having a fantastic season in AAA last year before being called up to the bigs. His status going into 2018 is unclear but could end up being a very useful utility player if not more.
Franco was the hardest player to give up despite being a hot mess last year. He's still plenty young and is due for a bounce back. He was in the news recently regarding his late-night habits while in the Dominican Republic, but has vowed to turn over a new leaf. Phillips looked good during his time in the bigs last year but has a lot of swing-and-miss in his game. Alex is nearing the end of his career and provides depth at C and 1B now. Yarbrough and Schmidt are both young arms with considerable upside and were needed to get the deal done.
This deal took several days to get done but I'd like to thank the Sox for the deal. Best of luck to them and their new players.
Welcome to the Brew Crew, Anderson, Joseph, Kyle, Delvin and Tyler!
