Reds and Yankees agree to a multi player trade.
Reds trade away:
OF Nolan Jones
1B Jon Singleton
SP Kyle Wright
Yankees trade away:
SP Matthews (prospect)
SP Scherzer
Reds are struggling to stay competitive in NL Central and took a chance on aging Scherzer. He’s expensive and signed through 2025. Matthews is a target for us and excited to get him. Didn’t want to move Nolan Jones but have positions covered and have to give up talent to gain talent. Really banking on some good Scherzer to justify this deal.
Wright should be back next year and signed well and Singleton is getting playing time in Houston and was great minor leaguer.
