If more than one team claims a player on waivers, the player will be awarded based on the following:
Teams in same league as the team waiving the player will have priority over all teams in the opposite league
Worst record to best record
Example: Team waiving player is in National League. Any National League team claiming the player will have priority of any American League team regardless of record. If more than one team in the same league claims the player, the player will be awarded to the claiming team with the worst record in that league.
All waivers are 24 hours from the time posted on waivers. After 24 hours the waiver for that player closes.
1--Waivers/Designated for Assignment (DFA)
To be used for moving players to your minor leagues that do not have any remaining options or are out of the TC and ARB years.
Official terms:
Waivers: send player to minors; keep on 40-man roster
Designate For Assignment (DFA): send players to minors; remove from 40-man roster (or) remove a player already in minors from 40-man roster.
If the player is claimed he will be awarded the team with the highest priority based on above.
2-Releasing player
All MLB players must be run through waivers to be released.
You are responsible for 50% of the salary for each remaining year of the contract, unless the player is claimed.
If the player is not on an MLB contract (0.3M or less) he can be released without penalty.
Any player on a MLB roster in real life will count as above-regardless if they are in your minors
If you release the player during the offseason you are responsible for 25% of the salary for each remaining year of the contract, unless the player is claimed
If a player is claimed, the claiming team must accept the current contract of the player as is.
When submitting a claim for a player you are not able to reverse your claim.
