The New York Mets accept.

Vinnie was a huge part of the fake Mets future but his shoulder injury scared me enough to make him available for trade. The Padres approached me with a return that helps now (Abbott) and in the future (Mayer). Although all experts scream regression when discussing Abbott´s strong start to his career I believe that he must be doing something quite right and could be a solid MLB starter going forward. Mayer gives me another building block for a young talented super core joining Alvarez, Volpe, Baty and Wood.

I would like to thank the Padres GM for the strong offer right off the bat and wish Vinnie a great time at Pacific Beach.
