Angels get:
Louie Varland, SP, MIN - $0.2 prospect

Diamondbacks get:
Mason Auer RF, TBR - $0.2 prospect
Alexander Canario, CF, CHC - $0.2 prospect
Pete Hansen, SP, STL - $0.2 prospect

The Angels are happy to get more SP depth and we are excited about his potential. Though different stylistically, he reminds us of Ober and we look forward to them anchoring the rotation for years to come.

We gave up some really exciting prospects but we have more depth at RF where Auer and Canario will likely end up and Hansen won't be up soon

The D-Backs accept this trade

For us, as much as we like Varland's potential...he showed it last season and again in a spot start just the other day...we felt the need to deal him for 3 promising prospects. Auer & Canario each being in their franchise's top 10 with Canario being at AAA at age 22. Hansen was an SP we like that was drafted in the 3rd round just this past season by the Cards and he is already ranked in their top 20.

We feel like our farm system will benefit more from 3 solid prospects than they will just the 1.
