Rockies trade:
Jesse Winker OF Sea 18, UFA
Raisel Iglesias RP LAA 7.5, TO 11.25, UFA
TOR Trade: Riley Pint SP COL--Minors Harry Ford C SEA -- Minors Robbie Grossman LF DET -- 7.5, 7.5, 7.5, UFA James Paxton SP BOS - 10.57, TO 15.85, UFA Allen Cerda OF CIN -- Minors
This trade is definitely about the future for me and selling expiring contracts or TO I wouldn't pick up and getting some value. I am most excited to get Harry Ford in the return as he has some very high upside. Paxton can be a good piece next year if he makes it to next season without hurting himself. Grossman gives me a LF filler for now but nothing to be excited about and the contract is not great--but have to take the good with the bad in trades to make both sides happy. Cerda is looking good and will hopefully make himself useful in a couple of years.
Overall a decent return for rentals and I wish the Jays the best of luck the rest of the way.

Blue Jays accept
I'm a couple games out of a playoff spot at the moment and needed to give my team a boost to hopefully get in and be able to stack up with some of the better teams. Winker is having a bit of a step back from last season but is a clear ugrade to Grossman in LF for me and will allow me to move Bryant around my lineup. Iglesias adds an everyday bullpen arm to my team which is an area that's likely below average. Giving up my 1st round pick in Ford for rentals was tough but I'm deep at catcher and you have to give up something to get something. I needed to move salary to fit Winker and Iglesias and with Bryant and Acuna likely locked in to only LF and RF next season Grossman was going to be an expensive bench piece moving forward. I wouldn't have had the salary cap room to eventually activate Paxton and was unlikely to pick up his option but should provide the Rockies with a solid rotation option and can likely be flipped for more prospects if he can prove he's healthy. I appreciate the easy negotiations with the Rockies and wish them all the best moving forward.
