The Brewers and Cubs have agreed to a rare intra-division trade! Brewers trade to Cubs: - Harrison Bader, CF, STL - 22/$1.35 23/$3.04 24/$3.04 25/$3.04 26/$3.04 27/$6.08(TO) 28/UFA
- Sem Robberse, SP, TOR - $0.2 prospect
- Elijah Dunham, OF, NYY - $0.2 prospect
Cubs trade to Brewers:
- Dakota Hudson, SP, STL - $1.85 ARB1
We've been kicking around options for this trade for about a week and finally decided on this compensation. We wanted to add more pitching which is seemingly always so hard to get. We had some depth at CF and opted to move Bader while he's playing well. He's likely always going to be defense over offense, but he has his good moments with the bat too. With Riley Greene waiting in the wings we felt we could make this move now.
Sem looks to be a pretty good arm in the Toronto system so we were a bit reluctant to deal him, but he's still in A+ ball so he's far away while Hudson can help us now.
Thanks to the Cubs for the deal and best of luck, although not too much luck since we're battling for position in the NL Central.

Same to you Jerry, best of luck!
I think I’m actually higher on Hudson than most, but ultimately another season of extreme injuries has me scrambling for enough healthy bodies to fill a lineup. I like Bader’s age and contract situation being locked up longterm for cheap. That’ll help given our current lack of cap space when everyone is healthy.
