Brewers have been busy, agreeing to another deal with the Nats. Brewers trade: - Isaiah Campbell, P, SEA - $0.25 prospect
- Ryne Nelson, P, ARI - $0.2 prospect
Nats trade:
- Chris Paddack, P, SD - 22/$1.85 ARB1
We've talked about Paddack with the Nats at length over the past week or so but couldn't agree on the compensation. We finally decided to move one of our best arms in Nelson to roll the dice on Paddack. After his rookie year he's not really met expectations and may not even make the Padres rotation in 2022. We'll take the chance that he does and is healthy, but certainly some risk involved.
Thanks to the Nats for yet another deal this off-season. Maybe more to come?
Best of luck.

Would have loved to have kept Paddock but wanted to send him down and did not believe he would have cleared waivers. I think in real life SD will trade him and he will be an integral part of somebody's rotation. In return I receive a really good arm in Nelson and no slouch in Campbell who was the 76th pick in the 2019 draft for Seattle.
Always fun going back and forth with Jerry.

Trade has been reversed since WAS owner was unclear on sending players down and clearing waivers that had options remaining.
