Another topic for the off-season, SB vs CS weighting. It was mentioned before that SB should be given more weight than CS, which I happen to agree with as well. Again, just documenting the topic.

To further this topic, there's been a couple games where a guy has stolen 4 bases. Let's say another guy goes 1 for 4 with a solo HR which is worth 6 pts. You're telling me the more impressive feat of 4 SB should only be worth 4 pts (granted he likely got a point for a walk or hit). Seems out of whack to me. HR's continue to go up while SB's decline. A SB should be worth more than a point, and worth more than a caught stealing in my opinion.

Interesting thoughts-but I am not sure I agree. 1. A HR is more valuable the a couple, or possibly 4, stolen bases. The goal of the offense is to score runs and a HR is the only thing that accomplishes that 100% of the time. A stolen base may increase the chances of a run being scored but depending on the situation the increased chance may not be much and therefor not much value to the offense overall. Four stolen bases in a game, while impressive, may be more of a reflection on the inability of the pitcher being able to hold a runner or the catcher being able to throw out a runner.
2. Caught Stealing--The negative effect of being CS is greater than the advantage gained through a SB. Based on that alone the CS stealing should have an equal or greater negative value than a SB.

Agree with the brewers. I think most teams were in favor of changing it in the offseason.
