After what was a fairly long negotiation for our two teams, the D-Backs and Braves have agreed to the following trade...
Braves get:
Adalberto Mondesi, SS, Royals. 2020/2.02M 2021/ARB1 2022/ARB2 2023/ARB3 2024/UFA
Spencer Turnbull, SP, Tigers. 2020/0.75M 2021/1M 2022/ARB1 2023/ARB2 2024/ARB3 2025/UFA
Mike Yastrzemski, LF/CF/RF, Giants. 2020/1M 2021/1M 2022/1.5M 2023/1.5M 2024/1.5M 2025/UFA
Julio Teheran, SP, Angels. 2020/12M 2021/UFA
D-Backs get:
Carlos Carrasco, SP, Indians. 2020/9.5M 2021/UFA ATL paying 50% ($4.75M) of Carrasco's salary.
Zach Plesac, SP, Indians. 2020/0.75M 2021/1M 2022/ARB1 2023/ARB2 2024/ARB3 2025/UFA
Nomar Mazara, RF, White Sox. 2020/3.67M 2021/ARB2 2022/ARB3 2023/UFA
Oscar Mercado, LF/CF/RF, Indians. 2020/0.75M 2021/1M 2022/ARB1 2023/ARB2 2024/ARB3 2025/UFA
Raimfer Salinas, CF, Yankees. 2020/0.2M Prospect
Simon Muzziotti, CF, Phillies. 2020/0.2M Prospect
Matt Wallner, RF, Twins. 2020/0.25M Prospect
Ricky Vanasco, SP, Rangers. 2020/0.2M Prospect
First, giving up the players we did was not easy...especially Mondessi & Yaz. Turnbull, who we believe will be a top SP, was easier because we were getting SP back in the deal. Teheran is just basically behind everyone else in this weird year because of COVID. We wish them all the best as they move to their new home.
As for what we got, Carrasco & Plesac are top notch SP. In this league we were taught early on the more SP you can get from the same team the better. We have now spent 2 years in rebuilding a very poor team that we inherited with getting the pitching staff of the Indians as a priority. We feel we not only managed to get the staff from the same team, but from one of the best, if not the best staff in baseball. Getting Mercado was a bit of a homer move, but we believe the kid has great potential. As for Mazara, he can hit for a decent average and put up 20 HR. The prospects we received in the deal ups the overall quality of our MiLB system. The grand experiment begins...
We would like to thank the ATL GM for hanging in on negotiations until we could hammer it out! It was appreciated! Good luck to you.
