After a short negotiation the Mets and D-Backs have agreed to the following trade...
Mets get: Nick Nelson, SP, Yankees. 2019/0.2M Prospect Jake Woodford, SP, Cardinals. 2019/0.2M Prospect Jeremy Pena, SS, Astros. 2019/0.2M Prospect
D-Backs get: Julio Teheran, SP, Angels. 2019/12M 2020/UFA
We hated to give up solid young prospects, but with Mikolas going down for the season we felt it necessary to take a chance on Teheran. He has always been a better SP than his numbers have indicated, he has been the quintessential hard luck pitcher throughout most of his career. We are hoping that changes in LA. He should be in their rotation, and ours, in about a week. We are working with just 4 SP and we know that won't fly for the whole season. We feel we have built our team right over the past 2 seasons to contend this year, so this is a necessary move for us.
Giving up Nelson and Woodford, who have both just been called up, as well as Pena, who is young but may be the best SS in the Astros MiLB system, is a lot to give. But we wish them the best in their new home!
Thanks to the Mets GM for once again making negotiations quick, easy, and fun!

The New York Mets accept.
With a sudden abundance of starting pitchers (Mahle, Toussaint, Dobnak going from RP to SP within the first days of this strange season) I made the decision to trade Teheran in order to strengthen my minor leagues. Coming off the IL in the next days Julio should immediately slot into the Angels rotation and help out the Dbacks pitching staff. I like all of the pieces that I get in return with Pena probably being the most talented of the bunch.
I would like to thank Arizona´s GM for coming up with this solid offer and wish Julio all the best in the desert.
Welcome to the Mets Nick, Jake and Jeremy and as always...let´s go Mets!
