Dodgers send:
Seth Brown - $.50/2020; $.50/2021; UFA/2022 Tyler Kinley - (.2); and Chris Gittens - (.2)
to Rays for:
$10M in cap space for the 2021 Season
Looked at the budget for next season and need to plan for Bellinger's ARB 2 salary, as well as ARB 1 salaries for Gleyber Torres, Ozzie Albies, Scott Kingery, and Alex Verdugo, Dodgers needed to either move players or acquire cap space and Rays were willing to deal from their $118 for 2021.
It was tough letting go of a low cost Seth Brown who crushed at AAA and generated 47 points in 75 at bats and would serve as LF depth, and even tougher letting go of Yankees future 1B Chris Gittens who was the Eastern League MVP with 40xbh, 23 HR, 77 RBI and a .281/.393/.500 slash line, but securing budget for next season was primary goal in this deal for Dodgers. Kinley was added to this deal as another potential MLB piece for Rays who currently have an MLB roster size of 11.
Thanks to Rays for working to complete this deal on a holiday, and best of luck for this season.
Thanks to

Trade is not valid--LAD has already traded 10 mil in cap space this season: from bylaws: You may trade or receive up to 10M in salary cap relief per season total.
Since LAD has traded or received 10 mil this season they are not eligible to trade or receive anymore this season regardless of the season it is applied to.
