Mets trade: Eric Hosmer, 1B, SD - 18.38M 2020/18.38M 2021/UFA 2022 Hunter Renfroe, OF, SD - 1.84M 2020/ARB2 2021 Joe Ryan, SP, TB - Prospect
Tigers trade: Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, STL - 16.5M 2020/16.5M 2021/16.5M 2022/TO 24.75M 2023/UFA 2024
In an attempt to further improve the fake Mets 2020 starting lineup I discussed a potential Goldschmidt acquisition with Roger for about four weeks - with a not so mistery team bidding as well (Jerry´s Brewers). Although seemingly declining a little and stealing significantly less bases lately Goldy still is a solid hitter in the middle of a strong lineup. I expect steady contribution over the course of his remaining contract.
Hosmer will cover 1B for Detroit which made this deal a good fit. I mostly wanted to get rid of my west coast 1B just because I can´t watch them play in the middle of the German night. Other than that I think that Hosmer is underrated and will do well going forward. In order to make this deal a good one for both sides I reluctantly added still young power hitter Renfroe and the Ray´s MILB organizational pitcher of 2019 Joe Ryan. Both valuable pieces with room to grow.
I would like to thank the Tigers GM for having a lot of patience over these long trade discussions and wish Eric, Hunter and Joe all the best with their new organization.
Welcome to the boys in orange and blue Paul and as always let´s go Mets!

Tigers accept. I to feel hosmer isnt as bad as most perceive him now. He plays most every day as well. To help equal towards goldy getting renfroe can help plus adds an extra bat to roster. Tigers are pretty high on joe ryan
Best always to Dominik and his mets
