It's been a busy week for the Brewers' Front Office--they would like to announce another trade! The Brewers receive: - Ryan Zimmerman, 1B, WASH - $14M/$14M/$18M/$18M(TO)/UFA
- Lonnie Chisenhall, RF, CLE - $4.3M/ARB3/UFA
The Dodgers receive: - Raimel Tapia, OF, COL - $0.2M prospect contract
- Matt Thaiss, 1B, LAA - $0.2M prospect contract
Brewers reasoning: This move was made for a couple different reasons. First, this is a young team in need of more veteran presence. Second, the offense has been lackluster the first few weeks of the season. Both Ryan and Lonnie are professional hitters and have gotten off to hot starts. They should contribute to the offense immediately. Last, it increases the team depth and gives additional roster flexibility. With this move, the Brewers have become one of the deepest offenses in the league. The Brewers hated giving up Tapia and Thaiss--both have very bright futures in front of them. Neither was with the club very long, but fit into the clubhouse immediately and were loved by their teammates--they will be missed. The Brewers thank them for their contributions to the organization. This move is high-risk, high reward. Zimmerman hasn't been the most durable for the past few years, but looks fully healthy for the first time in a long time. Chisenhall mashes righthanders and can be mixed and matched depending on who's on the mound. Best of luck to Tapia, Thaiss, and the Dodgers.

The Dodgers organization wishes Ryan Zimmerman and Lonnie Chisenhall the best of luck and success in their future endeavors with a great Milwaukee Brewers organization. We were sad to see both these players go, but are excited to be looking to the future with our young core of guys, and are ecstatic to be able to add Tapia, and Thaiss in the process. We feel that both Ryan Zimmerman and Lonnie would want to be in win now situations, and we cannot offer them that. So the return the brewers offered was more than expected and just too good to pass up. We send our best wishes to the players, families involved and the Brewers organization.
