Talks between the two clubs continued into the evening as the Cardinals and Red Sox agree to a trade of prospects.
Cardinals send Yu Chang Delvin Perez Eddy Martinez
Red Sox send Pavin Smith
For the Cardinals, this was a move to acquire minor league depth at the 3. We were sorely lacking smooth hitting first basemen and feel like Pavin Smith took positive strides in the minors and hope 2020 is the year he breaks out into the upper minors.
Pavin came with a cost and that includes versatile Yu Chang who is a plus prospect in his own right with mlb experience. Delvin is a speedy infielder and Eddy can hit for power and doesn't strike out much.
Thanks Red Sox and best of luck as you defend the Al East

Redsox agree to this trade. We love the newly acquired Pavin, but the opportunity to add Chang, Eddy Mattinez and a lottery ticket in Perez was too much to pass on. Thanks again to the Cardinals for another quick deal.
