The Minnesota Twins Trade:
Jesus Luzardo - SP (prospect) Joey Bart - C (prospect) Kyle Wright - SP (prospect)
For
Jake Degrom - SP / 2020- 24.6, 2021 - 24.6, 2022 - 29.5, 2023- 36.9 (TO)
* STL agrees to pay max 50% of 2020 to reduce salary to 12.3 million and 25% of 2021 to reduce salary 17.95 million.
This is the largest deal the twinkies have made since joining the league last year. We had the prospects to get it done but it made a sizeable dent in the farm. We think we have a really good shot to compete with a fairly decent offense, key prospects under cheap control, and a really good staff with Soroka and Kershaw in the mix for next season. Taking a shot at degrom to solidify our hunt for the playoffs made sense. Hoping it pans out and if it doesn’t Degrom is under a reasonable contract with STL agreeing to help out in that area.
Thanks for the deal STL.

Thanks Minnesota!
We accept this offer and feel like it helps both clubs.
While DeGrom is certainly an elite player in this league it made sense for the Cardinals to go a different direction, thin the payroll out and build for long term success. The return of three major league ready prospects will go towards that goal.
Cardinals expect Bart to be a long time addition to the lineup. Kyle Wright struggled in his time in the majors but has shown success in the minors and has a solid pedigree and great stuff.
Jesus Luzardo.
