The Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays will meet up on the MLB diamond(mlb world series championship rings) to finish their series on Sunday.
In the opener of this set, the Rays managed a 3-1 victory. On Saturday the Blue Jays finished off a massive comeback with a walk-off homer in the bottom of the 12th inning.
For Sunday’s game, the Rays will be sending out Yonny Chirinos for the start. Across his 117.2 innings and 8-5 mark so far, Chirinos has a 3.29 ERA with 102 Ks and 24 BBs.
The Rays put up 13 hits in the loss Saturday, but just couldn’t put Toronto(custom Toronto Blue Jays championship rings) to bed for good. Travis d’Arnaud managed a three-run homer with two runs in that one. Over on the Jays’ side, they’re going with Aaron Sanchez in the start Sunday. Over 107.0 innings and a 3-14 mark so far, Sanchez has a 6.06 ERA with 89 Ks and 59 BBs. The Blue Jays fired off six runs in the eighth and ninth innings Saturday to tie the game up and send it to extras. Teoscar Hernandez hit two solo homers including the game-winner in that one.
The Rays are 4-1 in their last five in game three of a series and 24-8 in their last 32 Sunday games. Tampa is 1-7 in Chirinos’ last eight starts and 1-4 in his last five versus the AL East.
Meanwhile, the Jays(custom championship rings) are 7-21 in their last 28 in game three of a series and 5-16 in Sanchez’s last 21 starts. Toronto is 1-7 in Sanchez’s last eight home starts and 1-8 in his last nine on turf.
Chirinos has been pretty solid over his last nine starts or so. In that span he’s got seven quality outings but is just 2-3 during that stretch.
As for Sanchez, he’s gone 5.0 innings in each of his last four starts and just broke a lengthy losing streak with a no-decision his last time out. Still, I don’t have a whole lot of confidence there right now so I’m going with the Rays.
