After a very quick negotiation the Cubs & D-Backs have agreed to the following deal...
Cubs get: Eric Lauer, SP, Padres. 2019/1M 2020/1M 2021/ARB1
D-Backs get: Zack Brown, SP, Brewers. 2019/0.2M prospect Cal Raleigh, C, Mariners. 2019/0.2M prospect Owen Miller, SS, Padres. 2019/0.2M prospect Roberto Ramos, 1B, Rockies. 2019/0.2M prospect
The D-Backs hate to part with Lauer, we believe he is a solid young and controllable SP, but also didn't have a good feeling for whether or not he is at his ceiling or could he progress a little more. Given that we took the opportunity to grab a few quality prospects.
Zack Brown is arguably the Brewers best pitching prospect and is at AAA now. Raleigh is 2018 3rd round pick by the Mariners who had a very strong showing in his first taste of pro ball. Owen Miller also a 2018 3rd rounder for the Fathers is already in AA and doing well there. Ramos is at AA and hitting for a decent average as well as showing off his power. All in all it was a deal we felt we couldn't pass up.
Thanks to Josh and the Cubs for making this an easy deal. Always a pleasure when we talk deals.

Thanks for the deal Donnie! Initially we kicked up some talks on Sonny Gray but once Donnie had a Gray deal in place with another team with moved over to Lauer. 3 of my top 6 SPs are down with injuries so Lauer will help to provide me some nice flexibility while on his TC contract. Brown might actually have a higher ceiling than Lauer, but I'm in win now mode again this year so flipping the prospect package made sense. Pleasure as always Donnie. Best of luck.
