After a semi-lengthy negotiation the Dodgers and D-Backs have agreed to the following deal...
Dodgers get: Sonny Gray, SP, Reds. 2019/12.32M 2020/UFA The D-Backs are paying $4M of Gray's 2019 salary.
D-Backs get: Ryan O'Hearn, 1B, Royals. 2019/0.5M 2020/0.75M 2021/1M 2022/ARB1 Thairo Estrada, SS/2B, Yankees. 2019/0.2M prospect Jeremy De La Rosa, CF, Nationals. 2019/0.2M prospect
We pulled the trigger on this one because we traded for Gray before our team became injury plagued and fell quickly out of contention. He is a 1 year deal and a nice piece to shore up LAD's staff for a possible playoff run. With that we bring back O'Hearn who could still progress into a decent hitter, at worst he gives us some flexibility the next few seasons. Estrada was just up filling in and accounted for himself very well. We see him as also offering flexibility over the next few years. De La Rosa is a very young, but very talented prospect. The Nats are very good at selecting and developing IFA prospects, so he seemed like someone we wanted in our system.
Thanks to Justin and the Dodgers for sticking with it and getting this done!

Dodgers confirm the deal.
With Cole/Scherzer; Cole/Lester; Lester/Cole seemingly always pitching on the same day, and Williams on the shelf, Dodgers were looking for another solid SP.
Dodgers like Gray's stuff, and with him being a UFA next year, he won't tie us up long term.
O'Hearn became expendable after acquisition of Carlos Santana, but loss of Estrada + De La Rosa from the system may hurt.
Overall, this move was worth it to Dodgers to close the gap and or make a move to what looks like a wild card berth.
Thanks to DBacks for working through this one over the past week or two. Best of luck with O'Hearn, Estrada + De la Rosa.
