The Brewers and Rockies would like to announce a trade!
The Brewers acquire:
- Ian Desmond, 1B/OF, COl - 19/15 20/15 21/8 22/15(TO) 23/UFA
- Bryan Abreu, P, HOU - 0.3 prospect
The Rockes acquire:
- Joey Lucchesi, SP, SD - 19/1 TC2
It's hard to find young, cost-controlled pitching in this league. When you have it it's even harder to part with it. But it's something I had to do. Calhoun doesn't look like he's going to break camp with the big league club and even if he does he's going to be a bench bat. I don't have another LF on the MLB roster and I can't have a gaping hole in my lineup. It's not necessarily an overpay on my part but it's definitely a move made somewhat out of desperation.
We did get a young pitcher that we like coming back in the deal as well though. Abreu took a big step forward in his development last year and excites us with his potential. We look forward to his continued development this year.
We want to thank Joey for his time in the Brewers organization. We wish him the best of luck with his new team.
Thanks to the Rockies for the quick deal.

I accept. I needed another SP and have good depth from my offense. Getting one with pretty good upside and still very controllable was important for me. To get Luchessi it made sense for my to give up some of my depth.
We wish Desmond the best as we will still be rooting for him being a fan of the real life Rockies.
