After a couple days of negotiations the D-Backs & Dodgers have agree to the following deal...
Dodgers get: Matt Harvey, SP, Angels. 2019/7.7M 2020/7.7M 2021/7.7M 2020/TO 11.55M 2021/UFA Eli Morgan, SP, Indians. 2019/0.2M Prospect
D-Backs get: Dan Straily, SP, Marlins. 2019/4.71M 2020/ARB2 2021/ARB3 2022/UFA Eli White, 2B, Rangers. 2019/0.2M Prospect
For the D-Backs this deal was about preferences. We hate to see Harvey & Morgan go. Morgan, at 22 is an up and coming prospect. Harvey isn't what he once was, but is still a bulldog and we like him in LAA. For us, we lose a little in Straily, but feel if he can stay healthy his numbers will stabilize and he can still be an effective SP for us. This deal for us was about getting White. We are very weak at 2B in our farm system and White hit .306 with 18 steals at AA in 2018. He should start this year at AAA and could be an early call up.
Thanks to Justin of the Dodgers for making the negotiations fun and productive!

Dodgers accept the deal.
For the Dodgers, acquiring another long term cost-controlled pitcher was the motivation behind this deal. After excercising options on Baez and Hedges, dealing Straily to the D-Backs in exchange for Harvey, a similar cost SP who Dodgers have always liked, was the goal. To tip the scales and get the deal done, sending my Eli to D-Backs for their Eli was more about positional preference. Eli White may be an up and comer in the Rangers system after the Profar deal to Oakland, but another young strikeout pitcher in Morgan was worth including a AA player.
Best of luck to the D-Backs with Straily (hopefully he doesn't come back and bite me) and White. Thanks to Donnie for working on this deal over the past few days and a little after his bedtime!
