To Toronto
C Martin Maldonado - 2019/12m - 2020/12m - 2021/18mTO
P Will Crowe - 0.25 Prospect
To Dodgers
P Nick Neidert - 0.2 Prospect
I've been looking to move into a contending stage and was looking for a Catcher to pair with Martin. Maldonado is a low ceiling guy but should get plenty of AB's in KC and help fill the C position for me this year. The contract is steep but with over 100m available in 2020 if I have to eat a $12m contract if he moves back to a backup roll it shouldn't cause me any issues. I like Neidert and as I've struggled to field a full rotation in past years was looking forward to his arrival even if he's a bit of a lower ceiling guy he would've been perfect to slot in at the back of a rotation as a lower cost guy. Getting Crowe back lessens the loss of Neidert as he offers a similar profile that he may be able to become a useful piece at the back end of a rotation although the WSH rotation will likely be much harder to crack in the short term. Overall getting a starting C for 2019 was worth the swap in prospects for me. Thanks to the Dodgers and best of luck.

Dodgers accept the deal with Toronto...
With the acquisition and extension of Hedges, Maldonado and his $12M contract here (and 1-year deal with KC) became expendable. Blue Jays expressed interest in a C, and Neidert has the opportunity to make his big league debut in a questionable Marlins pen. With President Jeter's goal of turning the Marlins around by giving their young talent an opportunity to play, dealing Crowe to acquire an SP who the Marlins acquired in the Dee Gordon deal was enough of a return for Maldonado and Crowe.
Thanks to the Blue Jays for a smooth deal, and best of luck.
