The New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks agree to the following trade:
D-Backs trade away to NYY:
1. Justin Bour - 2019/3.89m - 2020/ARB2 - 2021/ARB3 - 2022/UFA
2. Brad Boxberger - 2019/2.5m - 2020/2.5m - 2021/UFA
3. Rony Brtio - minors
NYY trades away to D-Backs:
1. Jose Martinez - 2019/1m - 2020/ARB1 - 2021/ARB2 - 2022/ARB3- 2023/UFA
2. Omar Estevez - minors
3. Rhett Wiseman - minors
NYY accepts this trade to bring in Boxberger to further solidify our bullpen, Bour to add further depth to our lineup and Brito as a prospect that could pan out in the future. It made sense for us to make the deal for Boxberger seeing as we have Peralta who is also on KC and both might either be set up or closer or vice versa. We like that idea seeing as KC might be in a lot of low scoring games and should give us a chance to score points out of our bullpen giving our scoring system. Bour gives us a nice bat to play right now, as we feel he will do well in LAA given the fact that Pujols is nearing the end and should give Bour plenty of chances. Brito is basically a prospect swap for Wiseman. While it was tough to let a good hitter like Martinez go, we felt Bour easily can make up for him, and with Goldschmidt now in St. Louis we are not sure what kind of playing time Martinez will have. Estevez was tough to give up, as he can be a real good one in the future, but we wanted to make it happen now so this is what it took to land the players we got in the deal.
Thanks for the deal and swift negotiations D-Backs. Looks like a good deal for both.
