The Brewers and Diamondbacks would like to announce a trade! The Brewers receive: - Yandy Diaz, 1B/3B, TB - 19/1 TC2
- Ryan O'Hearn - 1B, KC - 19/0.5 TC1
- Yu Chang, SS, CLE - 0.2 prospect
- Lolo Sanchez, CF, PIT - 1.7 prospect
The Diamondbacks receive:
- Brandon Drury, 3B, TOR - 19/3.06 ARB1
- Joe Ross, SP, WAS - 19/3.1 ARB1
- Brad Boxberger, RP, KC - 19/2.5 20/2.5 21/UFA
- Tyler Nevin, 1B, COL - 0.2 prospect
This deal came together quickly. The D-Backs made an inquiry and within a few messages back and forth was done.
It looks like Yandy is finally going to get a full-time gig and we have high hopes for what he can become. It was a small sample size, but O'Hearn came onto the scene late last year with a bang. Chang looks to be close to the bigs and we love Lolo (having already had him previously). We can't wait to see what all these players develop into this year.
Drury and Ross are both youngsters that haven't lived up to their potential yet, mainly because of injuries. They are both ARB eligible this year and candidates for contract extensions. We weren't sure if we were extending both given other pieces on our roster so this helps make the decision for us. Nevin is the piece we really wanted to hold onto but we have a bit of depth at 1B now so the blow is a bit less than before. Boxberger was just a throw in but is still capable of putting up decent numbers.
Thanks to the D-Backs for the quick deal and best of luck to all the players involved.
Let's go baseball!

The D-Backs accept this deal.
We love Yandy, and saw Ohearn have a nice finish to last season , but we looked at this as an opportunity to shore up the back end of our rotation. We think Ross and Drury both come back from injury plagued seasons and help us out. Boxberger will help as BP depth or be moved and getting Nevin was a very nice surprise. We have liked him for a while and see him at 1B for our team in the next couple years.
Thanks to the Brewers GM for making this an easy deal and hopefully a good one for both teams!
