It doesn't happen often but division rivals Brewers and Cubs have completed a trade! Brewers receive: - Yusei Kikuchi, SP, ARI - 19/8 20/14 21/15 22/13(TO) 23/16.5(TO) 24/16.5(TO) 25/16.5(TO) 26/UFA
The Cubs receive:
- Julio Pablo Martinez, CF, TEX - 0.2 prospect
- Eric Pardinho, SP, TOR - 0.2 prospect
The Cubs approached the Brewers about interest in Kikuchi and intrigued, we engaged in trade talks. Of course it's unknown how his skill set is going to translate in the MLB. Given the relatively team-friendly contract however, we decided to take the plunge. We're giving up two highly regarded prospects, but both of which are likely several years away from the bigs.
I hate dealing within the division, especially to the current top dog, but this deal seems to work for both sides.
Thanks to the Cubs for the quick and painless deal.

Cubs accept. Thanks for the deal Jerry. I had the IFA cash to grab Kikuchi, but I didn’t really have a need in my rotation for this season. So I figured it could be a good chance to Kikuchi to help restock my farm with some high end talent. I really like both Martinez and Pardinho as top prospects with very high ceilings. Best of luck to the division rival Brewers!
