LAA receives:
Adam Eaton RF WAS - $8.4/$9.5TO/10.5TO/UFA
Edward Cabrera SP MIA - $0.2 prospect
Ranger Suarez SP PHI - $0.4 prospect
Blake Parker RP LAA - $2-ARB1
Steven Wright SP/RP BOS - $3.5-ARB2
Jake Fraley LF/CF/RF TB - $0.2 prospect
CHC receives:
Mike Stanton LF/RF NYY - $26/26/29/29/32/32/32/39/25/UFA
LAA will be covering 15% of Stanton's salary in each of 2019, 2020 and 2021. No salary coverage afterwards.
2019 - $3.9m
2020 - $3.9m
2021 - $4.35m
This move goes against my typical strategy of avoiding these types of huge longterm contracts. I didn't even have Stanton on my draft board during the initial draft since I wanted nothing to do with his contract. But I feel like I've got enough players locked in at reasonable salaries that I am able to absorb the risk of a big contract like this without it crippling my team if it doesn't work out. Stanton was only averaging 0.3 ppg more than Eaton last season despite having 3x the salary, but Eaton was blocked on my roster with only RF eligibility; so it made sense to trade him for an upgrade with LF eligibility. I parted with some nice prospects here to make the deal happen, as well as some depth RP to fill out LAAs bullpen while also helping to even the salary exchange in the deal for 2019 at least. LAA is in a pretty tricky cap situation right now so this trade should provide them some much needed relief to help get back under the cap as well. Thanks for the fun negotiations and best of luck with all your additions.
