The Brewers and Braves would like to announce a huge 10-player trade!
The Brewers trade:
- Jack Flaherty, SP, STL - 19/1 TC2
- Drew Steckenrider, RP, MIA - 19/2 TC3
- Willi Castro, SS, DET - 0.2 prospect
- All three to be removed from the Brewers 40-man
The Braves trade:
- Dinelson Lamet, SP, SD - 19/2.04 TC3
- Willie Calhoun, LF, TEX - 19/0.5 TC1
- Evan White, 1B, SEA - 0.3 prospect
- Michael Chavis, 3B, BOS - 0.2 prospect
- Julio Pablo Martinez, OF, TEX - 0.2 prospect
- Luis Rengifo, SS, LAA - 0.4 prospect
- Alex Lange, SP, CHC - 0.3 propsect
- Lamet, Calhoun, White, and Chavis to be added to the Brewers 40-man
Wow! What a trade! The Braves wanted Flaherty and knew they would have to over-pay to get him from the Brewers, where he was a fan favorite. The Braves are in win-now mode and Flaherty and Steckenrider will be fine additions for them. Castro is a good long-term play as well. We wish all three of them the best of luck with their new team.
The Brewers are getting a treasure trove of young players back. Lamet is still recovering from last year's TJS so after dealing Flaherty we'll be down a man for a while but we're hoping he's able to contribute before the mid-point of the season. He was primed for a big year coming into 2018; hopefully we can ease him back in 2019 and then be ready for big things in 2020. Calhoun will slide right into our OF rotation with Bader, Fowler, Trumbo, Castellanos and at times even Merrifield. The prospects we're adding to our system will rejuvenate our farm after some recent deals that moved out some of our top prospects. We have high hopes for White, Chavis, Martinez, Rengifo and Lange and look forward to their development this year.
Thanks to the Braves for the constructive trade talks and ultimate deal. Best of luck to the Braves in their quest for their division title and championship.
