Mets trade
Danny Duffy, SP, 15.25/15.25/15.5/UFA
Peter O'Brien, 1B, 0.5/UFA
Elehuris Montero, 3B, 0.2 (Prospect)
Diamondbacks trade
Corey Dickerson, LF, 6.83/6.83/UFA
With trading for Dickerson the Mets take another step in building a competitive and deep lineup for next season. Also we get an insurance piece if Upton should get traded. Other positive side effects of this trade are clearing payroll (Duffy´s 15.25m) and creating roster flexibility with trimming down the 40man/25man by trading away Duffy and O'Brien.
Duffy is a solid starting pitcher with a clear role for next year which we were reluctant to move but in the end the SP depth of the Mets organization makes this possible. Montero (STL top prospect) is a nice piece as well and should soon join the notorious top 100 list but you have to give to get. O'Brien might be the 2019 regular 1B for the Marlins but with Hosmer this position is set longterm in Queens so I threw him into the deal to make it a fair one for both sides.
We thank the Diamondbacks for the quick and fun trade negotiations and wish Danny, Peter and Elehuris lots of success with their new organization.
Welcome to the 2019 NL East champion, Corey and as always let´s go Mets!

The Diamondbacks accept this trade.
When we dealt for Dickerson we saw him as a key part to our OF and gave 2 quality prospects to get him. Other acquisitions made it possible for us to accept this deal.
In O'Brien we get some 1B depth, and he may be starting in Miami this season. This deal gave us the opportunity to add a solid SP to the stable. If he returns to his form from the 2016 & 2017 campaigns, as he should, he will be a very good addition to our staff. He battled some minor shoulder issues this past season which should be resolved by spring training. The Key to the deal for us was being able to add Montero, a quality prospect that is ranked very highly in the St. Louis organization. He should very soon give us 2 3B prospects that are in the Top 100 prospects. For us, this deal helps now and builds the farm a bit.
Although his stay with us was very short, we wish Corey the best in his new home.
As always, thanks to the Mets management for making this an easy and enjoyable negotiation!
