Brewers get: Mark Trumbo RF BAL - $11/1yr Kurt Suzuki C WAS - $6/1yr Ryan Tepara RP TOR - $2/ARB2 Jhonathan Diaz SP BOS - $0.2 prospect
Cubs get: Ryan Costello 3B MIN - $0.2 prospect
Cubs were looking to free up some salary here and willing to part with a little extra talent and a prospect to get it done. Suzuki was actually my highest scoring C last season and he's been a top 10 scoring C in this league for 2 straight seasons despite splitting time. My team is deep at C though so it's a good move to let him go in order to free up Trumbo's salary for other needs on my team. Tepara is a decent RP and Diaz is an underrated prospect with great stats in the minors last season. Both necessary to get the deal done and worth losing for me to free up the salary. Thanks to Jerry and the Brewers for the trade.

The Brewers accept.
We are not delusional enough to think we're actually in a position to win this year. With that said, we have ample cap space and had holes to fill. This trade allows us to fill some holes and cost us nearly nothing to do so. Even better, the contracts of Trumbo and Suzuki are only 1 year deals so there's nothing on the books long-terms. Tepara is a nice bullpen arm on a cheap contract and to top it off we were able to secure a young prospect we like a lot in Diaz.
Costello was not in our long-term plans and welcomed a move to the Cubs.
Thanks to the Cubs for the quick and easy trade talks.
Please add all four players to the Brewers 40-man roster.
