After a short negotiation the D-Backs & Pale Hose have come to an agreement on the following trade...
White Sox get:
Trevor Cahill, SP, A's. 2018/7M 2019/7M 2020/7M 2021/UFA (D-Backs paying 3.5M of Cahill's salary for 2018 only)
D-Backs get:
Rafael Bautista, CF, Nationals. 2018/0.2M - prospect
Kelvin Gutierrez, 3B, Nationals. 2018.0.4M - prospect
Trevor Cahill has been a useful piece which we acquired when we believed there was still an outside chance of doing something this year, even if we were afraid to say that out loud lol. There are certain realities that we must face and felt this was the right time to cash him in for prospects. We wish him well in his new digs.
As for Bautista and Gutierrez, we believe we have received 2 quality prospects. Gutierrez is hitting well in AA and could be ready as soon as sometime next year. Bautista is tearing up AAA, hitting .366, after being an early season promotion from AA. He profiles as more of a 4th OF type, but his speed could carry him to a starting role next season.
Thanks to the White Sox GM for making the negotiations easy and hopefully fruitful for both of us.

White Sox accept as we were looking for another pitcher that’s provides quality starts. We didn’t want to let the prospects go but figured now was the time to make a push plus we have gotten Cahill at a reasonable price for multiple years
