After a very quick negotiation the Braves & D-Backs have come to agreement on the following deal...
Braves get:
Ryan Cordell, CF, White Sox. 2018/.2M - prospect
D-Backs get:
Shane Greene, RP, Tigers. 2018/2.6M 2019/ARB1
Cordell has always been an interesting prospect for us, but sometimes you have to make moves you don't enjoy...we wish him well in his new home.
In return we get a pretty good closer who, unfortunately, plays for a very poor team right now. But he will still get saves and hopefully in a year or maybe 2, when I need them, Detroit will be a little better. He is also very contract friendly when you look at what many of the closers are getting in this league. It was a move that made sense for us.
As always, thanks to the Braves GM for the quick and easy negotiations and the deal.

Getting younger has been the goal with all my latest deals. In Greene, we trade a closer who I think has really good stuff and will stick there long term. But RP was a position of strength when I think about Diaz, Hicks, and some of the young names I have coming up.
I have a number of CF prospects projected up around 2019 but needed a short term answer there and Cordell is a prospect I’ve always liked dating back to his time in a Texas.
I’m not sure if he keeps his job long term with the wave of Outfielders the Sox have coming In Eloy, Robert, Rutherford, and Adolfo but if he will get a crack before those guys which should be soon and if he impressss he should keep a role on the team. I like his bat, so he just needs to produce when he gets the call. I also have Engel currently and Rutherford for the future in that OF so Cordell is a little insurance there and if he loses his job to Rutherford it wouldn’t be the worst thing.
The D-Backs have been a frequent trade partner and have always enjoyed the discussion and negotiations. Another good deal. Enjoy your new closer D Backs.

This trade is being cancelled/reversed. Both GMs have talked about this and believe it is the right thing to do.
We made this deal earlier today and neither of us had heard that Cordell broke his collarbone last night.
