After a quick back and forth the Padres & D-Backs have successfully come to terms on the following deal...
Padres get:
Eduardo Escobar, SS/3B, Twins. 2018/7M 2019/7M 2020/7M 2021/7M
The Diamondbacks will keep 3.5M in 2018 and 1.75M each year 2019 thru 2021
D-Backs get:
Mark Vientos, SS/3B, Mets. 2018/.25M - prospect Jhoan Duran, SP, Diamondbacks. 2018/.6M - prospect Bryse Wilson, SP, Braves. 2018/.2M - prospect
As much as we hate to see Escobar go, this weekends 0-6 performance just solidified that we need to keep the rebuild going and get any thoughts of competing this year out of our heads. Escobar did not fit our long term plans which made him expendable.
We dealt a super utility guy, who is now getting regular playing time, for 3 prospects that will help our organization get to where we want to go. In Vientos we now have an up and coming prospect in the Mets organization. Duran is young but moving up the charts with the D-Backs and in Wilson get an SP who is a quality prospect that is a little further along in his climb to the Braves big club.
Thanks to the Padres GM for a fairly simple negotiation and a deal that hopefully helps both teams.

SD confirms.
SD is in win-now mode and some huge holes have been developing due to injuries. Escobar should help soften the blow.
Tough to give up some young studs in a thin system, but short term is currently the priority.
Best of luck as Arizona builds a force in the coming years.
