**** Put this in the wrong place somehow****
Fixed and put in proper place lol
After a little negotiation the Angels and D-Backs have agreed to the following trade...
Angels get:
Jurickson Profar, 2B/3B, Rangers. 2018/1.65M 2019/2.48M 2020/2.48M 2021/2.48M 2022/2.48M 2023/TO 3.71M
Tyler Nevin, 1B, Rockies. 2018/.2M - prospect
Andrew Bechtold, 3B, Twins. 2018/.5M - prospect
D-Backs get:
Jason Kipnis, 2B, Indians. 2018/13.5M 2019/14.5M 2020/TO 16.5M
As always we hate to see prospects leave the system, Bechtold & Nevin are both decent prospects even if still 2 to 3 years away. Profar is a guy we were hoping would finally get ABs (which he will for the next 2 months) to prove he is not the bust most have labeled him as. We hope he still does because we like the kid. We wish all 3 good luck in their new home.
As for our return, we know the injury bug got Kipnis last season and are hoping this year is different. Right now he has an anemic .160 average but with the warmer weather he seems to be coming out of it. He has been a top 2B in the past and at just 31 he is nowhere near done. He still has 20/20 potential in him. Having watched all but 1 of his games this year we have seen a lot of hard hit balls. If he hadn't spent so many games in 35 degree weather his average could easily be .260 or better with a couple HR already. For us, in the end it came down to pretty much knowing what we will get for the next 3 or 4 years vs what might be in Profar and the prospects. Although we are building for the future this gives us what should be a stable piece to build around with the young guys.
Thanks to the Angels for a smooth negotiation and what we see as a deal both sides could benefit from.
