The Mets and Diamond backs have a greed to the following deal....
Mets receive:
Randal Grichuk, LF/RF, Cardinals. 2018/1.56M 2019/ARB2 2020/ARB3
Diamondbacks receive: Ty Blach, SP/RP, Giants. 2018/1M 2019/2M 2020/ARB1 Ryan O'hearn, 1B, Royals 2018/.2 - prospect Bryce Denton, 3B, Cardinals 2018/.6 - prospect
The Diamondbacks are dealing Grichuk because if we have a strength it is OF. The idea was to pick up a couple mid level prospects for depth and some much needed pitching depth in Blach, who is an innings eater and at 27 still has some ceiling.
As always, it was a pleasure and very easy working with the Mets GM. Much thanks for the easy negotiations.

The New York Mets gladly accept this deal.
Since the FA bidding didn't go as planned I was looking to acquire a versatile bench bat via trade. Grichuk is a post-post-post hype player who I always had a soft spot for. Fun fact: His hard hit % over the last three years ranks 12th among all MLB players. His swing and miss tendencies are a different story though.

I wasn't ready...stupid IPad!
Arizona was looking for a potential MLB starter in return and Blach fits this mold. Since his spot in the rotation is not sure I added O'Hearn who is a non-roster invitee at KC spring training with an outside chance of making the MLB roster at the start of the season. To make this deal attractive for both sides Bryce Denton completes the package. Former 2nd rounder, talented, hard-working lottery ticket.
The Mets wish Ty, Ryan and Bryce all the best in sunny Arizona and thank the Diamondbacks for the (again) pleasant trade talks.
Welcome back to New York, Randal and let's go Mets!
