The Brewers and Braves would like to announce a trade! The Brewers receive: - Esteury Ruiz, 2B, SD - 0.2 prospect
- Jose Almonte, SP, ARI - 0.6 prospect
The Braves receive:
- Dillon Peters, SP, MIA - 0.2 prospect
Ruiz is a player the Brewers have liked for some time. He's still young into his career but he's shown that he can hit for average, possesses a bit of pop and has above average speed. We can't wait to see his game and skills progress in our system. Almonte is likely a couple years away from the bigs as well but all indications are he has a good pitch mix and has a considerable ceiling as a starter with his swing-and-miss stuff.
Peters has already gotten a cup of joe in the bigs and did ok. He's in the hunt for a rotation spot heading into spring training but with his team in tear-down mode it might be hard for him to advance his game in the big leagues should he make it out of spring. This helped factor into our decision to let him go.
Best of luck to Dillon and the Braves.
Welcome to Milwaukee, Esteury and Jose!

In accepting this deal, the Braves were looking for immediate pitching depth and think we have a starter who makes the opening day rotation. Thanks Jerry and the Brewers for another quick deal.
