The Mets and Diamondbacks front offices have agreed on a trade.
Mets receive
Robert Gsellman, SP, NYM 2018/1.02 2019/2.04 2020/ARB1 2021/ARB2 2022/ARB3 2023/UFA
Diamondbacks receive
Joshua Tobias, SS, BOS 0.6 - Prospect
PJ Conlon, RP, NYM 0.2 - Prospect
The Mets keep on looking to improve their starting rotation depth in order to build a winning team for years to come. Gsellman was a mess in 2017 but the talent is still there so the management decided to roll the dice. Conlon had the best ERA in the Minors in 2016 and is still working his way to MLB - a talented player. Tobias had a very good season in the Minors in 2017 and is a not shiny but solid prospect I included to make the package attractive.
Again I would like to thank the Arizona management for the good trade talks and wish PJ and Joshua a great career going forward in their new organization.
Welcome to New York, Robert and let´s go Mets!

The Diamondbacks accept this trade.
After a poor 2017 we decided it was better to part with Gsellman so he could have a fresh start with a team that would appreciate him more. In the process we continue the rebuild with a pair of very decent prospects.
A thank you to the Mets GM for the generous offer and the brief, but interesting trade talks.
