The Management of the Brewers and Mets would like to announce a trade! The Brewers receive: - Maikel Franco, 3B, PHI - 18/1.01 19/ARB2 20/ARB3 21/UFA
The Mets receive: - Jedd Gyorko, 3B, STL - 18/9 19/13 20/13(TO) 21/UFA
- Matt Boyd, SP, DET - 18/2.04 19/ARB1 20/ARB2 21/ARB3 22/UFA
The Brewers are proud to re-acquire Maikel. He was traded away last season but has always been held in high regard by the team. We look forward to him settling into his new lineup and producing for years to come.
Jedd is a model teammate and leader in the clubhouse. His funny jokes and sharing of knowledge with the youngsters will be sorely missed. Matt showed some flashes of his potential last year and we wish him well with his new team.
Best of luck to both Jedd and Matt. Thanks for your contributions to the Brewer organization.
Thanks to the GM of the Mets, always a pleasure to do business with you.

The Mets ownership gladly approves this trade.
Going into the the winter meetings we viewed Franco as a longterm solution at 3B but after defining the offseason goals as creating more depth at the MLB level - especially in the starting rotation - it was impossible to pass on the opportunity of getting a solid 3B as well as a young SP with upside for Franco.
We thank the Brewers management for the pleasant trade discussions and hope that young Maikel finds his power stroke again in spring training.

Sorry to offend you Minnesota. Give that I'd had day long negotiations with the Mets and that fact that he's like 7 hours ahead of me I knew it was going to get done. My apologies.
