Marlins trade
Dan Straily, SP, 1.02/ARB1/ARB2/ARB3/UFA
Garrett Hampson, SS, 0.2 (Prospect)
Scott Blewett, SP, 0.2 (Prospect)
Braves trade
Trevor Bauer, SP, 3.6/5.4/5.4/5.4/5.4/TO 8.1/UFA
Justus Sheffield, SP, 0.2 (Prospect)
Jamie Barria, SP, 0.5 (Prospect)
With this trade the Marlins take the next step in improving their SP in the Minors and are excited to add their first Top 100 prospect to the organization in Justus Sheffield. Trevor Bauer is an enigma but still young and might have another level in him. Jamie Barria pitched very well in the futures game and is another nice piece for the future.
In Dan Straily we gave up a reliable pitcher who has improved significantly over the last two years. Hampson and Blewett are young and talented players who performed very well this season. They were added to the mix to make this trade fair for both side.
We thank the Braves for the constructive trade talks and wish Dan, Garrett and Scott lots of success with their new organization...in all games when they donĀ“t play the Marlins.

A few reasons went into this trade. Being a Marlins fan, I like the type of pitcher that straily is. While he isn't flashy, he is steady and consistent. He also slots in this week on Tuesday and Sunday which were two days I didn't have a SP. These are big games for me so that is huge.
Bauer has a ton of talent and has more upside than Straily, but will need to put it all together. I didn't want to give up Sheffield in the deal but that is business. Barria I think could be an underrated part of the trade, but I do like getting back Blewett and Hampson as well.
